Shareholder Jennifer Middleton brings seventeen years of distinctive legal service, advancing and defending the rights of individuals in employment and civil rights matters including discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, disability rights, whistleblowing, and medical leave claims.
Ms. Middleton represents private and public employees in disputes with employers at trial and on appeal. Recent clients include a female firefighter with the City of Eugene discriminated against when she attempted to return to work after receiving a pacemaker; an executive terminated after he reported unlawful discrimination and other wrongdoing by his employer; and a transgender man seeking equal health benefits on the job. Ms. Middleton strives not only to secure fair compensation for her clients but also to enforce individual civil rights and build workplace fairness at the same time.
Prior to joining JJLS Law, Jennifer served as an attorney at the Employment Law Center in San Francisco and for the American Civil Liberties Union at its New York headquarters, prosecuting civil rights claims nationwide. She currently serves as an active member on Oregon’s ACLU Board of Directors.
Jennifer Middleton is licensed to practice in federal and state court in Oregon, California and New York, the Second and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. She is an appointed Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, serves on the District of Oregon's Federal Local Rules Committee, and is an Executive Board member of the Oregon State Bar’s Constitutional Law Committee.
Named 2012 Super Lawyer, Jennifer received her Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University (Summa Cum Laude) and her J.D. from Harvard Law School (Magna Cum Laude) where she was Editor in Chief of the Harvard Women’s Law Journal.
